Austin Texas is the Capital of Texas, the Lone Star State. Located in Central Texas, Austin was known by Waterloo starting in 1837 and later was named Austin after the “father of Texas” Stephen F. Austin by Republic of Texas President Mirabeau B. Lamar in 1839 when the city was officially chartered. There is no place in Texas I would rather be than the Austin Texas and Central Texas area.
There are plenty of choices for needed services like food, education, medical care and entertainment in this culturally diverse area. On any given day there are multiple events going on in and around the city so that it is hard to choose what to do. The Austin Texas of today is immensely popular and faces unique challenges because of this fact. As a business level member of Preservation Austin, it is my hope that we can preserve Austin’s past while moving forward into the future.
