Clarksville Homes For Sale

Clarksville – Austin TX – 78703

Clarksville is a very popular area of Austin, Texas just west of downtown. There are many quaint old homes, some new construction and it is all close to 6th Street, Downtown and the Capital. Clarksville is located north of W. 10th Street, west of W. Lynn, south of Waterston and east of the MoPac Expressway near Enfield in Old West Austin. Clarksville is a historic district listed in the National Register of Historic Places that dates back to the 1870’s when it was comprised of 365 acres and owned by Governor Elisha M. Pease. Homes are mainly bungalows, Craftsman style and Late Victorian in architectural style. Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church at 1725 West 11th Street in Clarksville was founded by freed slaves in the 1870’s and has a historical marker. The Texas State Historical Association has a fabulous article about the history of Clarksville, TX. I recommend reading that piece to get the full flavor of old Clarksville. I worked for years at a Real Estate office in the Clarksville neighborhood.

Clarksville Restaurants and Stores

Clarksville restaurants include Cipollina West Austin Bistro at 1213 W. Lynn St. Argentinean Tango dances are held there. Jeffrey’s is a fabulous fine dining restaurant at the corner of West Lynn and 12th Street. Nau’s Drugstore is a must see old drugstore replete with a soda fountain to step back in time. El Interior has a lot of Mexican imports. Many people walk or bike in Clarksville but Capital Metro Route 9 bus route is there in the neighborhood for public transportation.

Call Betty Saenz at (512) 785-5050 or e-mail Betty Saenz to see real estate in Clarksville. I work with both sellers and buyers. I have worked in Clarksville for years and love it. Clarksville is so close to Downtown Austin, UT, the Capital, 6th Street and more. Although some people living in Clarksville complain about the fact that it is a historical neighborhood and historic buildings, even other than the homes, must be saved, it is a great neighborhood.
