Affordable Texas Lakefront Homes under $400,000

Generally speaking, there are two types of luxury homes in the Austin, San Antonio, and Central Texas area that fall within the $5 million dollar range. There are luxury homes close to the big cities either in suburbs or downtown with a few acres of land and over 4,000 square feet of living space. The other type of $5 million dollar luxury property includes acreage and barns or workshops in rural communities – often with 30 to 500 acres and a lot of living space.

Luxury Homes for Sale in Austin or San Antonio

While no luxury home in this price range is exactly the same, homebuyers should have some general idea of what to expect. Architectural designs can range from stunningly modern to Texas Hill County to Tuscan villa. These homes generally feature amazing views of either the Austin skyline, rolling hills, or even dramatic cliffs. Open floor designs, hardwood and marble or intricate tile floors, beautiful floor to ceiling windows, custom cabinets, built-in Thermador and Subzero appliances in a large gourmet kitchen, spacious and well-appointed master suites, occasionally multiple master suites with both bath and sitting areas, guest suites and rooms, and public-facing offices on the main floor as well as private studies. Big bonus rooms, game rooms, or theater-style media rooms are common. Outdoor areas include large patios or terraces for entertaining guests, outdoor kitchens, heated pools for laps or with water features like falls, slides, and diving boards.

Luxury Homes for Sale in the Texas Hill Country

There are a great variety of luxury homes for sale in the Texas Hill Country. Homebuyers can expect to find anything from ultra modern designs to hundred-year-old farm houses. The farther these $5 million dollar luxury homes get from the city, the larger the acreage and other amenities become. It is common for these properties to include barns, workshops, guest houses, cabins, barns, corrals, stables, and other types of out-buildings in addition to the main house. There are quite a few horse ranches, farms, and other types of horse-friendly communities. There are also large estates with views of the hills, lakes, and nature preserves. Some properties include their own bodies of water or have boating access. Others are in luxury golf course communities or a combination of all the above.
