Travis Heights Neighborhood in 78704

Travis Heights is a very sought after neighborhood located west of IH 35, south of Riverside Drive and east of South Congress. Just south of the Colorado River, Travis Heights is very close to downtown and some homes even offer a downtown view. Many homes were built in the early 1900’s. Many of the vintage old homes have been totally remodeled with all rewired electrical, all new plumbing and fixtures and more. There are some new construction homes available in Travis Heights from time to time. Many have some original classic features like original fixtures, hardwood floors and more period quaintness. Travis Heights is hilly and has a peaceful feel to me but you go hang out and be the judge. All the mature trees and shrubs make Travis Heights look real earthy and natural. The tree lined streets are shady and comforting especially during the Texas Summer. One home I sold there on Avondale was like a Frank Lloyd Wright home. It had parking below but everything else was above in the treetops on a big 1/4 acre lot. There are some Craftsman style homes in Travis Heights.

Travis Heights streets include Algarita Avenue, Alta Vista Avenue, Avondale Road, Bonham Terrace, East Live Oak Street, Fairmont Avenue, Gillespie, Harwood Place, Kenwood Avenue, Milam, Newning, Reagan Terrace, Rosedale Terrace, East Riverside Drive, Travis Heights Boulevard, Woodland and others.

Travis Heights is “Walkable” or Wheelable

Travis Heights is rated “very walkable” according to the walkability ratings and it truly is close to things! Walk or wheel to the many parks like Stacy Park and Big Stacy pool and the colorful Keepin’ It Weird SoCo shopping, Town Lake aka Ladybird Lake, entertainment and eatery areas of the SO Co. As they say, 78704 is a lifestyle, not a zip code!
