Betty Saenz’ Lockhart TX Family History
I have family history in the Lockhart Texas area. Per my cousin’s book Zur Erinnerung, A relative, Walter Pieper lived with his family at 434 North Blanco Street in Lockhart from 1904 until his death August 1, 1914. He ran Pieper’s Saloon on the south side of the Lockhart Town Square. His widow, Ottilie Pieper purchased 412 North Blanco in 1919. They are now buried in the Walter Pieper family plot in the Lockhart Cemetary.
My direct forefather, Anton Pieper, a Son of the Republic of Texas, actually travelled to Lockhart frequently in the 1800’s when living in New Braunfels. Anton Pieper died of pneumonia January 21, 1876 after crossing a frozen creek in rural Lockhart on his horse and falling through the ice. Anton Pieper is buried in New Braunfels, TX.
