Most pet and people shelters need help all the time to help both homeless people and homeless animals. Here is a great Program in Williamson County to help homeless dogs get adopted Kids N K9s
Kids N K9’s has a great Facebook page too.
Medical or Mental Health
The American Cancer Society
I have had friends who were personally helped by this organization. I actually worked there years ago in a temporary position during the National Smokeout doing smoking cessation counseling for the national hotline. It was very gratifying work. The American Cancer Society is located on Ridgepoint in Austin can be reached at (512) 919-1800. You can help by donating money, participating in fundraisers & other events like Relay For Life® & volunteering. American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network(ACS CAN) is a great venue to fight cancer. There is also a Matching Gift Program to see if your employer will contribute with you dollar for dollar. For instance, I just searched & found Dell, a major emplyer in the Austin Area does match.
